Question Hello, I have an alberts spruce that is dying from the bottom up. Is this caused by spider mites? And if so how can i rid the plant of them and will it grow back in?
AnswerLou,
The damage is not being caused by spider mites. If mites were the culprit, they would kill off irregular patches thruoghout the tree.
The problem in this case, I feel is more cultural. Normally when a plant dies off from the bottom up there is usually a drainage problem in the area. I would recommend checking the soil for water retention and slow drainage. These problems, if they exist, will need to be corrected before the plant dies off completely.
I hope this helps.
Good luck,
