QuestionWe moved from southern CA to NW New Jersey and looking for shrubs to plant along front of house. Our house faces north, receiving only 3-4 hours of sun per day. I am mystified by the damage I see from deer and rabbits in our rural neighborhood. Does not need to be an evergreen - I am not a fan of junipers. Fond of interesting shades of green, red & silver and fall color would be great - I'd also like to use a decorative grass in front of shrubs for interesting color and texture but not looking for annuals or perennial flowers. Spring blossoms are not necessary. Your suggestions? Many thanks for the expertise!
AnswerAmy,
I would recommend using a mixture of some of the following plants:
Andromeda, Forsynthia, Hydrangea, Cephalotaxus, Spiraea, Bayberry, Spruce, Viburnum
Go to the local garden center and look at these plants and decide which would be right for you.
Good luck,
