QuestionI live in Frederick County MD and my Holly bushes seem to be dying. The leaves are turning brown, the branches are drying out and it looks like they will die if I don't take care of this soon. Any information would be helpfull.
AnswerDavid,
I would recommend that you check the under sides of teh leaves and branches for scale. They will appear as cottony masses along the branches and leaves. These insects will suck the juices out of the plant killing it. If you find them, spray them with horticutural oil.
The other possibility is winter injury. In both cases I would recommend fertilization for them to help strengthen them and to encourage new growth.
Good luck,
