QuestionI planted a Crepe Myrtle bush last summer, did wonderful. Today my puppy "pruned" the bush for me. He took off about 1 foot off the top of the branches. He broke and chewed them off. Will it survive? Will it bloom? There is a decent size left of it. He also completely ate the entire Crepe bush I had in the backyard earlier. Why is he sooooo attracted to this bush? He had taken some off the azelas but not like the crepes. Yes we have a REAL chewer on our hands! Thanks Eva
AnswerEva,
I would recommend pruning the chewed branches back and erecting a mesh fence around it to stop any further damage.
You should get some flowers this year, but probbly not as many as you would have.
As for why the dog is attracted to the plant, your guess is as good as mine. It could possibly be the odor or the leaves color and texture.
Good luck,
