QuestionWhen is the best time of the year to transplant an Dwarf Alberto Spruce and what is the best way?
AnswerRobert,
I always recommend to try to plant in the early to mid fall for all plants. You can still plant at this time of the year, but depending on where you are, the plants will have little time to establish a new root system before the winter.
To properly transplant a shrub, dig out a root ball that is at least the same size as the drip line of the tree (the point where the branches stop) or larger. Dig the new hole twice as large as the ball, to allow for rapid root development. Do not use fertilizer in the hole, use instead a root stimulator, mulch and water as long as you can before the ground freezes.
Good luck.
