Aborvitaes

Question
I had approxiametly twenty beautiful aborvitaes that were recently damaged by an early winter storm in Buffalo NY.
I had them trimmed down and the cracked branches removed. I deperately want to save these plants. Some of the scrubs are bent over or drooping due to the heavy snow on the branches. How do I wrap these bushes? Should I use burlap and wrap them individually or wrap them collectively. Is there a better way/ Please help. Thanks.

Answer
Frank,

I would recommend that you first tie up the inner branches using arbortie or hose and wire. This will help to support the overall structure of the plants and stop them from falling apart again.

I would also recommend wrapping them individually to further support the growth. Wrap the plants loosely with the burlap so you do not distort the growth patttern.

Good luck.
