QuestionHi Ed
I live in Northern Illinois. When is it best to replant bushes etc in the fall----when still leafed out or after leaves have fallen off ?
AnswerBill,
It doesn't matter if the leaves are still on the plant or not. Cool weather will help the plants reestablish a root system before the ground freezes. Put down some granular fertilizer when transplanting and mulch the root systems well (2-3 inches of mulch).
Good luck.
