burning bush planting time

Question
I am looking to replace a burning bush that recently
died, maybe from this summers extreme temps and humidity. The bush was about 4-5 feet tall and would like to replace it with one that will grow to the same size. What is the best time to plant a burning bush, and what is required to prevent it from drying out so bad?

Answer
Kelly,
Fall would be the best time to plant another shrub.
Make sure you are watering the plant well through the summer and apply a 2-3 inch layer of mulch over the entire root zone. This will protect the ground from drying out.
Fertilize the plant in the spring with a low nitrogen fertilizer to help it through the summer months.
Good luck.
