Question
i just planted 5-4 foot trees and they seemed fine but now they are getting brown at top, and some of the needles are falling off, when i water. we have had a dry summer but i thought i have been watering enough.

Tina,
You need to be watering everyday with a soaker hose for at least 1 hour. This allows the water to penetrate deeply into the soil and reach all the roots. Watering with Lawn sprinklers only moisten the top 4 inches of soil.This is not enough water for these new transplants.
Put some low nitrogen granular fertilizer around the bases and make sure you have at least 3 inches of mulch protecting the roots.
