We have a rail fence up at present. Wish to remove and plant fast growing shrub/hedge in place. 90% full sun area and hard tree rooted soil. Could you recommend something. We are in the Charleston SC area.

Sorry I took so long to get to your question, it's been a busy last few days.
Fo ra quick growing privacy hedge, there are several different plants that you can go with.
Any variety of Viburnum or Forsynthia would create a nice large hedge that would be dense.
Pyracantha is also a possibility, but this plant has thorns and I would not recommend it around houses with children.
Weigela is also a good choice and would work well in your area.
I would recommend that you go down to the local nursery center and look at these plants and find the one that you like.
