QuestionI live in Oregon in the willamette valley, last fall planted a 5 gal. Lilac. Has done beautiful throughout the winter, spring and early summer. Now, the leaves are curling, even though I water regularly. What to do?
AnswerCindy,
It sounds like the Lilac was doing well in the cooler parts of the year, but has gone into stress once the hot weather hit. I would suggest increasing your watering, and applying a granular low nitrogen fertilizer to help jump start the root systems. Make sure that there is at least 3 inches of mulch under the plant to protect the root systems.
Good luck.
