QuestionHi Ed~
Thanks for your response-I was sure they were burning bushes, since I stick the little plastic plant info tags into the ground right next to the plants (I'm not exactly an expert id'ing anything in the garden. except grass).
But, after reading your response, I wanted to make sure I hadn't screwed up, so I did an image search on google. The burning bush is what I have.
The non-burning bush, that is!!!
By the way-I was recently told that this plant is considered tantamount to kudzu-ie, an invasive weed-and is not allowed to be sold in CT anymore. I haven't checked out the veracity of that, and I certainly don't notice any of the shrubs spreading like wildfire.

AnswerMary Ellen,
Yes in much of the northeast the Winged Euonymus, or burning bush, is considered as an invasive species. It grows so well that it will actually outcompete the native plants, which in turn, upsets the natural order of bird forage and migration.
I am sorry that I had no answer for you, but as I explained, I have never heardof this condition or can think of or can find any reason why they would not change colors.
Good luck.
