QuestionLast spring I planted three burning bush shrubs. All was well until recently. A few weeks ago I noticed a lot of spider webs on the bush that gets the most shade and those leaves were turning brown. I washed the plant off with water but the leaves contue to turn and is now spreading to the next bush. They all did very well last year. What might be causing my burning bushes to die? The soil has clay but was worked and ammended to allow drainage and is topped with cypress mulch.
AnswerVictor,
It sounds like the Euonymus are being attacked by two spotted spider mites.
Spray all of the shrubs with a registered miticide, especially underneath the leaves and the bark. This will stop further damage and help the plants begin to recover.
Good luck.
