QuestionWe have a very large tree in front yd. It's roots have now broken my front porch and lifted and is creating a really serious problem. We can eventually cut down the tree, but how do we get rid of the roots that are under the porch and causing problems w/ house structure etc. Is there a way to get the roots to decay fast? I think this is a non berry mulberry tree. thank you.
AnswerSusan,
There used to be a product sold that was used to speed up decay in stumps. I do not think that this is still marketed and I cannot remember the name of it.
The best advise that I can can give you on this is to sever the roots that are extending towards the house and dig them out, since I do not think that you would have room to use a stump grinder to grind them out.
I hope this helped a little.
Good luck.
