Questionmy hydrangea is big & full, but no flowers. what should i do for next year to ensure i have blooms?
AnswerDebbie,
I would recommend that you thin out the plant to encourage flowering next year. Hydrangeas flower off of old wood, so do not prune it in the fall or the early spring.
The other things that will interfere with blooming are too much nitrogen fertilizer, poor fertility or too much shade.
Fertilize with a low nitrogen fertilizer in the fall and again in the spring- this should help it to bloom.
Good luck.
