QuestionI just planted a new burning bush about a month ago. It was doing great. Two days ago I noticed something is destroying the leaves. It is looking bad. The plant is small, maybe a foot tall, to a foot and a half. I sprayed it with soapy water. Not sure what else to do. I hate to lose it! I have it planted in a mulched area. Could bugs have come from the mulch? Any suggestions?
AnswerLori,
It is possible that the euonymus is being eaten by the Black Vine Weevil (BVW). This pest lives in the ground during the day and feeds at night.
I would recommend that you treat the plant with an insecticide such as Orthene or some other material that is labeled to control BVW to control this damaging pest.
Good luck.
