QuestionI bought a lilac bush less than a month ago at a nursery. I bought the "Sensation" variety because of the dark purple/white color combination. I read that the true color may not appear until maturity and right now I have nearly white blooms. I figured it was because it was such a young bush but I saw some not much larger than mine in bloom at another nursery that already had the color of the sensation. Is this a pH problem or did I get a mis-labeled bush?
AnswerShay,
There are sometimes genetic variations in plants. It is possible that the color will change as the lilac matures. It could also be due to some transplant shock that it is going through.
Give it a year and then the true color should manifest itself.
Good luck.
