QuestionI would like to trim my emerald and gold euonymus bush. Can i do it now? Is there anything I should be aware of when trimming it.
Thank you
AnswerAnn Marie,
Euonymus can be pruned any time of year, as long as the shrub is in good health and not under any heat or drought stress. I would recommend that you prune it by hand instead of using a hedge trimmer. Pruning by hand will take longer, but you can be sure that you will not do any damage to the leaves like a hedge trimmer often does.
Prune it back by cutting inside the foliage to maintain it's natural shape. You should also thin it out a little bit to create an environment unsuitable for the growth of Euonymus scale.
