QuestionI have just planted a small (less that 1 foot) Azalea Japonica (Madame van Hecke)in a tub on a patio where it will receive only a few hours of morning sun. I used soil based erricacious compost. The plant is in bud and looks vigerous and healthy.
Should I feed it? How often and with what?
Will it require pruning - how and when.

AnswerTony,
I would feed your shrub using the Miracle Gro for acid loving plants once a week in the irrigation. As for pruning wait until after it has flowered and before the 4th of July. Azalea form next years flowers this year as the days start becoming shorter. So if you prune in August you will have a nice plant but no flowers.
