QuestionHello , I have a hydrenga plant and ive had it for about 4 or 5 years and it has never bloomed. It is planted on the east side of the house by a concrete porch. It gets morning sun and usually shaded in afternoon evening. Should it be moved to a different location or something else. I just dont know what to do? Please help. We live in sw missiouri. AnswerHydrangeas need about 6 hours of sunlight per day, so I doubt light is your problem. A very hard freeze after the buds have set can kill them. Also, hydrangeas bloom best on last year's stalks. New growth may have a few small blooms, but they are usually poorly shaped. Do not over fertilize. Too much nitrogen will produce beautiful foliage with no blooms. Use a blossom booster fertilizer or one high in phosphate. If you knew the particular variety, you might find it isn't very cold tolerant and this would explain the lack of blooms.
