QuestionThank you for your reply on my last question, were you able to read the area where I can rate you? I took a good look at the tree today, I noticed when I pulled back a branch it is brown on the inside and the ends are a motled brown green. The brown/dead needles are spreading. I mentioned I mixed in dehydrated cow manure in the soil when I planted. Also their should be no moisture contained where its planted due to the plant is under an overhang from the roof with plenty of ventilation and receiving some rain, Maryland zone of 7 I believe. I will have the soil tested, I have some other Alberto spruces about 10 feet away which are doing fine. What are the signs of insect infection? mites? lack of water? Thank you for any help you can give.
Answerhi again
Mites leave the needles in yellow stripes which eventually turn brown when the chloriphil is sucked out. this is usually confused with a nutrition problem. if you are in zone 7 that is a problem as spruce is usually acustomed to zone 5 or lower it is possible to grow them out of zone but not without problems. check airflow and sun angle to each one as well as moisture access.
