QuestionI planted a variegated weigela last spring and even though it seems to be growing fine, and looks healthy, it has never had a bloom on it. Can you help me out on this?
AnswerShannon,
Two things come to mind when a flowering shrub does not flower. First, where is the plant? Many times when full sun plants are planted in even moderate shade will not flower in response to the reduced light being received by the leaves. Second, has to do with fertilization. Too much nitrogen fertilizer will encourage the plant to produce leaves at the expense of flower production.
I hope that this helps.
Good luck in the garden.
