QuestionHi Mark, I hope you're the right person, I didn't know which category this fell under.
I have some young Boxwoods planted about 6-8 mos. ago. I don't know how to start pruning them. I've read that I should maybe crop them very low (5-6 inches above ground), yet I've read there may be shock to the shrub. My goal is to have them as a very tall and skinny hedge. Should I prune them now, wait... please advise. Thanks in advance.
Answerboxwoods can be pruned a lot. there should be no shock from planting now, if they are doing fine, they should be ok. you can start to trim them up, if you want them skinny and tall, trim the sides, not the tops, this will help to accomplish this. are these boxwoods suppose to get tall? not many do, is this the correct plant for what you want? if the plant is to get only say 3 feet tall (comman for boxwoods), all the pruning in the world wont make them get taller, hope this helps you out.
good luck
Mark
