QuestionHi, We recently purchased a hydrangea at Lowe's and planted it about 3 weeks ago. We're noticing that it's bloom has started to wilt and that it's leaves appear to be burnt/dried. What are we doing wrong. We've added fertilizer and water it regularly.
AnswerHI Jose
its gone into shock, this could be from a number of reasons
over watering, over fertilizing, soil PH is wrong, adverse weather conditions like fluxuating temperatures. what ever it might be you need to meet the shrubs needs for it to perform well for you. Hydrangeas need full sun and well drained loamy type soil to do well the soil must be acid
about a 6.3 or 6.5 PH and kept moist not wet. To start a new shrub starter fertilizer should be used and not the regular type to prevent burning. For now wait and see if it comes back. water it once a week. Good Luck Larry ;-)
