Question
What are the pluses/minuses for using weigela(carnaval), daphne(carol mackie) or mountain laurels w/western exposer? I am replacing 5 evergreens(yews) and looking for colorful small/dwarf shrubs instead of evergreens. I live in south suburbs of chicago.
Feel free to over suggestions.

a western exposure for any shrub or plant means wind exposure drying them out, and only half day sun, your selections will work fine but you may have to keep an eye on there moisture level.  water them when it does not rain
