QuestionWe have a large grove of blue spruce trees that are probably around 18 foot tall. While spraying the pasture which is inside the grove we had some 2-4-D drift on the trees some of the foliage looks wilted and some is brown did we kill our trees hope not
Answer2-4-D is a growth regulator and will cause we needles and shoots to curl, brown and buds to drop. Needles may also brown and if they received a lot of exposure may drop. Trees exposed however will normally recover. The Blue spruce, as well as other conifers are most sensitive in the spring when growing rapidly and new shoots are being formed.
