QuestionAs you know we were in a drought earlier this summer. When I realized my Tulip Poplar tree was loosing its leaves early I decided to water it. So now the tree is split from the ground up maybe feet. Is it because i watered it, one time for an hour?
Will my tree live and what should I do to it to maybe fill up the crack? It looked greener after I watered it and only the brown leaves that were left, fell off. The leaves have since stopped turning brown and falling off. We are now having rain.Maybe 4 times since i watered it. Should I continue to water it?
Thank you, for your time . Wasn't sure whom to ask .
AnswerI would water it once a week with 1 inch of water--place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. You can cut the loose bark off the wound and this will help the tree heal over the wound sooner Do not put any thing on the wound this will slow down the healing process. If it is still green then it sould be ok.
