QuestionThe first fall the European Mountain Ash was planted (in Canadian zone 5) it had plenty of berries. The second fall none at all. And this third fall there are in total 3 bunches.
When should I use the 0-10-10 fertilizer, now in the fall or wait until spring? Any other advice will be greatly appreciated.
AnswerBerry production does vary each year due in to weather conditions when blooming. I would recommend fertilizing it with 0-10-10 fertilizer. I would fertilize now and again in the spring after the last frost. Use 1 lb of fertilizer per inch of trunk diameter scattered around the tree and watered in good. If you fertilize just before a rain storm you will not need to water. The berry production will increase with age of the tree.
