QuestionI REMOVE 7 COTTONLESS COTTON WOOD TREES AND HAD ALL THE STUMPS GROUND NOW I AM SPROUTING UP LITTLE TREES EVERY WHERE. HOW DO I KILL THEM
AnswerThe roots are still alive. During the growing season tree roots store energy to be able to sprout new growth in the spring. When a hardwood tree is cut in the growing season the roots will sprout new growth. These can be killed by spraying the foliage with a herbicide called Roundup. The leaves will carry the herbicide to the roots and kill the root system. Roundup will kill any green plant so be careful when you spray the foliage that the spray does not get on any other plant not wanted killed. IF there is grass under the sprouts you can wet a cloth and wipe the sprouts leave and this will prevent getting the spray on the grass. Wear plastic gloves if you wipe the sprouts. The herbicide will not harm you but it does smell the smell will absorb into the skin. Check with your local garden type store for Roundup +
