Questioni have mulberry tree grown to big to get any berries. How do or can i trim back height to get to berries in future years. yard skills completely non existent when i moved in here - bad shape when i moved in trying to back pedal (on lots of things) as i learn. granddaughter & i like berries (not all of them). thank you
AnswerThis depends on the current shape of the Mulberry. If it is a large tree with a single trunk, it would not be prudent to try to revert the tree into a shrub form. If it is "shrubby" already, you can prune it back heavily to your liking. Mulberry trees are routinely over pruned when used as ornamental and shade trees, but in a crop producing situation frequent heavy pruning is acceptable.
