Question
I live in Albuquerque, new Mexico. As of now I have my crooked willow in a big pot. I would like to plant it into the ground. I do have a pool and would like to know what the root system is like on these trees. How far it has to be away from the pool as I do not want the root to penetrate my in ground fiberglass pool. Thank you

Willow roots tend to seek water and if there is a leak in the pool the roots will find it. This tree has spread at maturity of 15-30 feet so I would plant it no closer than 20 feet from the pool further if you have the room.  Also just as important is the mess from the leaves falling into the pool will be a constant cleanup issue.
