QuestionI have several cottonless cottonwood trees. They are on a drip
system, once a week for two hours. They are growing tall but do
not leaf out very much. The leaves are small and sparse. Should I
feed them or what am I doing wrong. They do have a mulch of leaves
around the trunk.
Thank You
AnswerI assume you planted these this year. Hardwood trees tend to grow a good root system before they add foliage. I would think this is the case here. I would fertilize with 10-10-10 fertilizer at he rate of 1 lb per inch of trunk diameter scattered around the tree and watered in good do this now and again in the sprung. This will encourage root and foliage growth.
