I HAVE A MAPLE TREE THAT OVER THE PAST 4 TO 5 WEEKS I'VE NOTICED THE LEAVES CHANGING LIKE IT WAS GOING DORMANT, SOME SAY IT IS WILT OR STRESS HELP !!
TREE IS 35 FT HIGH
BARK HAS SPLIT
BLACK MARKS ON BARK
SOME WHITE FUNGI ON FEW LEAFS

Answer
It could be several things from Borers to sun scald to possibly antracnose. There is just not enough information to ID the problem. A picture might help (these can be attached to the question) I would also suggest that you call the SC Forestry Commission and ask one of their Foresters to come take a look. They have Foresters in each County and they will come ID the problem for you. They also have a Pest management staff in Columbia that can also help.
