QuestionWE have young Mountain ash Trees there is some trunk damage I would like to save the tree. How do I fix this can I use paint or is there a different method.
AnswerDo not pout any wound dressing paint on the wound this will slow the healing process down. I would just remove any loose bark from the wound and let it heal by itself. Young tree will heal fast and over a couple of years will grow bark over the wound. The time will depend on how wide the wound is but young trees are growing at a fast rate and it will heal over by itself.
