Question
i really pruned this tree almost to the trunk in the fall ,now its 24th may and no sign of buds or groweth .i live in southern ontario.the weather has been below normal temps for this time of year and lots of rain.do you think i have lost it .thanks andy

You may have over done the pruning. Leave buds are on smaller branches and twigs and when a tree is pruned back to the trunk there may not be enough leave buds present under the bark to sprout new leaves. This is pretty drastic type pruning and not usually recommended. About all that you can do is wait and see if the tree will sprout. The chances are not good but I would wait a month before deciding to remove it. Sorry!
