QuestionI planted a cleveland pear three years ago. This year the tree bloomed real good. But after the blooms the leaves were pretty thin. the tree was fuller the first year I planted it. Any Ideas Thanks
AnswerI would fertilize the tree with 10-10-10 fertilizer at the rate of 1 lb per inch of trunk diameter scattered around the tree and watered in good. Apply the fertilizer now and again the Fall. This wil increase the root growth and in turn the amount of foliage. Make sure that a lawn fertilizer called Weed and Feed is not use near the tree--this granular lawn fertilizer contains a herbicide that will kill trees.
