half dried live oke leafs

Question
My live oak trees start off nice and green, then half of the leafs dry up. One half is green the end of the leaf is brown dried up. Can u please find a cure for my trees.

Answer
Joe, Unfortunately there are several diseases that affect oak tree's, causing them to have the same leaf browning symptoms that you describe. Regardless of which one is causing the problem,  treatment for all possible suspects are very expensive, and not very effective. I would treat the problem indirectly with the following strategy: fertilize the the trees every fall with a quality organic fertilizer, create or widen your mulch ring to the maximum distance feasible using two inches of shredded hardwood mulch (careful not to place any mulch on the root flare or tree trunk!),  water the tree generously during extended dry periods and remove any dead or dying limbs from the tree and the surrounding area as this material can harbor and spread disease. Together these steps should boost your tree's immune system and lessen the disease symptoms. The most likely diseases are Anthracnose, Bacterial leaf scorch, and Leaf Spot incase you want to do more research on your own, type these names into google images to correctly identify your disease. Good Luck!
