Question12 years ago my landscaper raised the soil level at the
front of the house near my bow window and planted a maple
columnar which was the height of the roof. It was very
beautiful. I did not realize that the columnar shape was
getting wider as the branches widened. I cut a few branches
, but i am not sure if after all these years when the bark
gets wider if the roots will attack my foundation one
day.please advise.
AnswerDilky, Tree roots usually only damage a homes foundation if it is already damaged. If there is a crack in the foundation the roots can do serious damage. If you have an older home, maybe 40 yrs plus I would be concerned and have your foundation inspected. If not then you should be fine but keep a close eye on the situation. Good Luck!
