QuestionThank you for your help thus far.The tree is back up, one root would not go back down. I surrounded the tree with decorative landscape stones and topped the natural rocky desert type soil with 3 bags (2 cubic foot each) miracle grow rich top soil. Creating a bowl from the tree base up to the top of the stone about eight inches to cover the one exposed root it took four days digging to get this done. The tree does not look real healthy. Should I trim the tree back, and will the exposed root be good covered that way
AnswerSounds like you did well. I would not prune the tree now wait until it has a chance to get itself growing from the shock and stress of the moving around of the roots. I hope you are saying you lines the area around the tree with the stones and not covered the area with the stones. Covering the area would cause damage to the roots by pushing the air spaces from the soil.
