Question
Mesquite
We live in Arizona between Phoenix and Prescott where it is very warm most of the year. The only shade around our house is provided by a type of mesquite. Good shade, however, these trees are dropping something year round. Sap in the spring, followed immediately by pollen just a couple of weeks after leaves appear, then seed pods in the summer and fall, and leaves in the fall and winter. I had seen a TV show about Arizona trees sometime ago and they mentioned a tree hormone that can keep these busy trees from producing seed pods. If so, what is it, and where can I get some? Thank you for your help.
AnswerMight try Florel?brand Growth Regulator It works well on sweetgum and other trees in stopping the fruit production. Do not know if it will work on mesquite. But it is worth the try. Check with your local tree nursery for this product Here is a web link to more information on this product. http://www.montereylawngarden.com/info/florel/
