QuestionEvery spring I get aphids on my mayday tree. I spray it every year with insecticide and kill them. My deck is black with dead aphids But they come back again the next year. Is there a way to get rid of them for good or are they to stay. I hate to cut down a beautiful mayday tree but my deck is covered with sticy liquid every year. When I spray the tree it is aphid free for the remainder of the season.
AnswerThere is a product but am not sure you can get it in Canada. The product is Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insect Control. It is applied to the soil around the tree and the roots pick the insecticide up and carry it to the stems and foliage where when the aphids suck the plant juices they are killed. It will protect the tree for the whole season. Here is the web link to this product. http://www.bayeradvanced.com/product/Tree-Shrub-Insect-Control/concentrate.html
