tree roots vs foundation

Question
I live in the city and have a young mulberry tree growing just next to my building.  It is at least 15 years old and about 50 feet high and I didn't know whether to prune it or remove it.  I asked prospective pruners whether my foundation is safe in order to decide to prune it or remove it.  One arborist said that tree roots grow around solid structures not into them.  Another told me that the roots would ruin my foundation.  What do you think?

Answer
The recommendation is about 6-10 from a structure. The roots will not be a problem but the limbs will be depending on what "next to my building" is. The roots are for the the most part fibrous and will not harm the foundation but can get into septic lines if planted near the lines. I would prune the limbs so that the lowest one is above the roof line so the limbs will not rub on the house. Beyond that the next nest thing is to remove the tree or try transplanting it. Transplanting will be a large job for this large a tree. I would try the pruning.
