Question
A tree guy topped off some old scrubs oaks in the front of my house. He was suppose to leave some leaves but did not, They look like two huge 30 foot stumps at this point. My question is, Will new leaves grow? He said they would but I do not believe him. I am so angry at what he did to my tree! I guess I need to decide if I should cut them completely down and replant. Please advise.

It will depend on the size of the trunk. It may sprout out of the trunk BUT it will look like a bush or a bottle brush. IF all the limbs were cut off leaving only a trunk and the top was cut It may never look like a tree again or at least for many years. Toping tree is never a good idea and can damage a tree to the point of death. You can wait until the spring an see what happens and decide if this is want you want the "tree" to look like or go ahead and cut it down. I would never use this "tree guy" again. Use a company that has a certified Arborist. They will know better and will manage your trees so they are healthy. Here is a web link to the organization that certifies Arborists.
