QuestionHello, I recently purchased a property with about 25 huge pecan trees, we bought in the winter so was not sure of their health,, they seem to be having problems,, some have limbs that seem to be rotting off but they still have leaves,, only a few have nuts on them.. some of the trunks on the bottom seem to have lumps or holes around the bottom of the trunk. we are in Calhoun county and are not sure who to call or how to take a soil sample,, I do not want to cut these beautiful trees down but also are afraid some will fall,, thank you
AnswerSounds like the trees were not taken care of and need fertilizing and other treatments. I would suggest you call the local office of the Agricultural Cooperative Extension Service and ask for their help. They have staff specialist that can advise you on raising pecans.
