QuestionWill river birch trees grow in the water in the edge of a pond. I bought several trees about 15' tall and wanted to plant one on a point in the edge of my pond. It will be in about 12" of water mainly in winter, in the summer the water level drops. Thanks!
AnswerNo they will grow near the waters edge but not in the water. The roots will not get enough oxygen and die and this will kill the tree. Bald cypress will grow in the water in this type situation. That is about the only tree that will survive with this much water.
