QuestionI live In Louisiana and it has been hot and dry this summer and my live oaks are about 15 yrs old,but only have been in the ground for 2 yrs. They in 100 gal pots for the first 12 or so yrs. My Question is with me watering them often they are dropping leaves like crazy are they going to be ok
AnswerTry watering them with 1 inch of water--place a pan under the tree and turn the sprinkler on and when the pan has 1 inch of water in it stop. Do this every third day unless it rains or until there is a rain pattern set. If you have not done so mulch around the trees with not more than 3 inches deep of organic mulch (pine straw is good) not piled up on the trunk. This will help hold moisture around the roots.
