QuestionHello
I have just had planted 14 beautiful Green Giants. These are 6-8 or so feet tall. I am very worried about deer rubbing their antlers this fall on these trees. I had bought some other Evergreens trees last year (luckily at a deep discount price) and the deer ruined all, but one. How can I prevent the rubbing of antlers on these trees?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank You Very Much!
AnswerProtecting trees with plastic collars and tree guards in late summer will protect trunks from deer rubbing. Be sure to remove wrapping in spring to avoid damage to the trees. Repellents can work depending on the deer population. Here is a web link to more information on control of deer problems.
