QuestionThe cheery tree is blooming and we are expecting temperatures tonight between 26 and 30 degrees. How can we prevent he prevention of freezing and thus ruining the cherry's? We have blooms only. Thank you very much.
AnswerFrost will be the limiting factor hopefully there will be enough wind to keep the ice off the new leaves and flowers. If the trees are small enough I would consider covering them to keep the frost from damaging the new leaves and/or flowers. If you can not do this it will not kill the tree but can damage the leaves and flowers but the leaves will come back. It is not real critical for the leaves but the flowers for the year more than likely will be killed.
