Question Approximately two years ago an ice storm broke some of the top branches off my weeping willow tree. Since then, only the bottom third of the branches produce leaves.
Until the ice storm damages this was the most beautiful tree in my subdivision. What can I do to save this tree?
AnswerCut the dead branches and over time the lower branches will become the new top of the tree. I would also fertilize the tree with 10-10-10 fertilizer at the rate of 1 lb per inch of trunk diameter scattered around the tree and watered in good. Apply the fertilizer just before a rain event and you do not have to water. fertilize now and again in late summer.
