QuestionI recently used a Safer brand insect soap on the maple, it was covered in tiny bugs. It didn't say anything about not using it on maples on the bottle but I look online now & it says not to use on them. The new leaves are starting to wilt and look kinda sick. Will the whole tree dye or will the leaves just suffer for now?
AnswerThey should recover. I think what happened is it was sprayed on the tender newly opening leaf buds and it can damage these sensitive leaves. Hardwood trees will leaf out again even if all the leaves are damaged say from a late frost. So I would expect the tree do be fine. The soap can be used on maple trees but it works best when the leaves have fully grown.
